MSU鈥檚 Adkerson School of Accountancy achieves high marks in latest Public Accounting Report rankings

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥旂哿κ悠碘檚 Adkerson School of Accountancy is once again being recognized for its nationally competitive accounting programs.

The 2018 Commerce Clearing House Public Accounting Report lists MSU in the top 10 for master鈥檚 and undergraduate accounting programs for schools with 16 or fewer full-time accounting faculty. The programs also are ranked among the best in the southern United States, regardless of faculty size. The rankings are based on survey results from accounting faculty across the country.

鈥淥ur outstanding faculty in the Adkerson School of Accountancy continue to provide high-level programs that prepare our graduates for successful careers,鈥 MSU College of Business Dean Sharon Oswald said. 鈥淚 am grateful that accounting faculty from across the country recognize the strength of our programs.鈥

MSU is ranked No. 6 for its undergraduate accounting program and No. 7 for it鈥檚 master鈥檚 program among universities with 16 or fewer full-time accounting faculty. The university鈥檚 undergraduate program ranks No. 14 in the south, while its master鈥檚 program is ranked No. 20.

鈥淭hese Public Accounting Report rankings are another indication of the quality of the Adkerson School of Accountancy鈥檚 programs,鈥 said Shawn Mauldin, the school鈥檚 director. 鈥淪tudents can be confident that their accounting degree from 幺力视频 will allow them to compete with graduates from any other program in the United States.鈥

Housed in MSU鈥檚 College of Business, the School of Accountancy is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the world鈥檚 largest business education network and longest-serving accrediting body for business schools with undergraduate, master鈥檚 and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. MSU is among 799 business schools around the world that hold AACSB accreditation. Additionally, MSU is among only 186 institutions that hold an additional, specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

Earlier this year, the School of Accountancy updated its curricula to emphasize technology skills relevant to data analytics and to give students the tools needed to remain at the forefront of the accounting profession.

Approximately 100 bachelor鈥檚 degree candidates and 35-40 master鈥檚 degree candidates graduate from MSU鈥檚 accounting programs every year. MSU offers a bachelor鈥檚 in accountancy and an accounting minor for undergraduate students. For graduate students, the School of Accountancy offers professional accountancy and taxation master鈥檚 programs.
