STARKVILLE, Miss.—Ƶ is taking care of what matters—and that includes its people. MSU is the only Southeastern Conference school to make the 2024 Top 50 list of “America’s Best Large Employers” recently published by Forbes.

At No. 41, Ƶ is one of only three universities in the U.S. ranked in the Top 50—joining the University of Notre Dame (20) and Purdue University (47). In the expanded Top 100 list, the SEC’s University of Tennessee, Knoxville and University of Kentucky are No. 79 and 97, respectively.

Mississippi’s leading research university also is among many other recognized and prestigious organizations from across the country including Delta Air Lines, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Progressive and NASA, to name a few.

“Our faculty and staff’s tremendous commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service makes our campus a rewarding and welcoming environment—a place to call ‘home,’” said MSU President Mark E. Keenum. “We continue each day to look for new ways to grow and nurture relationships here on campus that further enhance our close-knit, vibrant university community.”

The annual Forbes ranking, produced in partnership with market research firm Statista, is a survey of employees at American organizations and companies. Survey respondents were asked to rate their employer, and if they would recommend it to others. Responses were given by current employees, those who had worked for the entity within the past two years, and individuals familiar with the organization through friends, family or peers.

All survey responses were tallied to produce a score, and the 600 entities with the highest scores landed on the “America’s Best Large Employers” 2024 list.

In 2023 and for the eighth consecutive year, MSU was honored by the national publication, The Chronicle of Higher Education, as a “Great College to Work For.” Based on survey feedback from employees, only 50 four-year institutions achieved this highly respected recognition last year. Also for the eighth straight year, MSU was named to the Great Colleges Honor Roll for achieving outstanding results in multiple recognition categories.
