MAMA awards majority of car manufacturing scholarships to seven MSU students

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥幺力视频 students are claiming a majority of scholarships this year awarded by the Mississippi Automotive Manufacturers Association. 听
Of nine university scholarships presented this year by MAMA to help grow the state鈥檚 automotive industry, seven are supporting MSU students interested in this field. Since its inception in 2006, the association has awarded more than $400,000 scholarships to 243 Mississippi college students.
MAMA works to improve the state鈥檚 automotive industry by promoting its growth and development, while serving as a forum for automotive manufacturers throughout state. The scholarships are awarded based on academic achievements, essays and an expressed interest in the automotive industry.
鈥淢ississippi has an environment conducive to advanced manufacturing,鈥 said MAMA President Skip Scaggs. 鈥淲e are proud that Mississippi鈥檚 higher education system has invested heavily in educational opportunities and facilities which ensure the state will be able to produce the talented workforce necessary to keep the automotive industry strong. MAMA is committed to doing our part to recognize that workforce.鈥

GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania鈥擭aomi Martin, senior mechanical engineering and minor in mathematics
HAMMOND, Louisiana鈥擜bigail Potrament, junior in industrial engineering
